Instinet Canada Connects to CIX ATS, Ahead of Scheduled Launch
Instinet Canada is a first mover on CIX connectivity, offering clients access to Canada's newest equity marketplace through Instinet Technology Solutions and Instinet's execution business.
TORONTO, Ontario – [September 1, 2026] – Instinet Incorporated (Instinet) today announced that Instinet Canada Limited, its Canadian subsidiary (Instinet Canada), has completed connectivity to CIX Trading Inc., Canada's next-generation alternative trading system, ahead of CIX's planned launch.
As one of the first connected technology providers, Instinet Canada offers clients an early-stage opportunity to establish access to CIX through Instinet Technology Solutions and the award-winning Newport® execution and order management system (EMS).
CIX is preparing to launch with a new matching engine, longer trading sessions, support for fractional shares and a redesigned order book. Instinet Canada has completed the connectivity work needed to access CIX once the venue is live.
CIX subscribers may establish access to CIX through Instinet Technology Solutions, Instinet's technology platform supporting routing and connectivity solutions, as well as through Newport EMS. This connectivity will provide clients with an additional avenue to access CIX Trading's marketplace and liquidity.
For clients utilizing Instinet Canada as an executing broker, Instinet plans to incorporate CIX as a routing destination into its algorithmic suite and Smart Order Router (SOR). This integration will provide access to CIX liquidity without any change to the client’s workflow.
The early connection reflects Instinet Canada’s commitment to providing clients with access to new venues that foster innovation, increase competition, and expand access to Canada's capital markets.
